My love of food began early. From the time I could talk, I’m told that I began quoting the Wiggles, “fruit salad, yummy yummy.” True words! Fruit salad is the best. When I was old enough to follow simple instructions, around age 3, my mom began letting me help bake fresh bread at home. When it was time for the bread to rise, my mom would have me spread a clean kitchen cloth over the bowl and say, “Shhh, it has to take a nap now. If it doesn’t take a nap, it won’t grow.” This was also her reasoning for encouraging my mid-day naps. My recipes are the result of such memories and flavors. Packed with love and handed down from my grandmother, mother, aunties, and uncles, who are a mixture of amateurs and pros in the food industry. Each recipe I use has been gently tweaked, while maticulously avoiding the erasure of the good feelings and deliciousness so fondly remembered in the original formulas. "Perhaps today’s recipes have so many ingredients that people may become intimidated .... It may be why so many people give up on the idea of cooking for themselves. It feels far too complicated. But what if we could show people how to have really good cooking and baking technique so they could turn something as simple as plain chicken with vegetables into something they won’t forget?"
I love to hand-pick and pack my ingredients from a local farm and use them fresh -- farm to table.
